It is as yet unknown if the 2018 World Equestrian Games can take place in Bromont. The organising committee of the WEG has been informed by the Canadian government that the government will not partake in funding the event. The event will cost an estimated $100 million, two thirds of which must be gained from sponsorships. However, as yet no major sponsors have come forward. The government states that they never made promises of financial manner.
Officially the event has not yet been cancelled, but rumour has it that the WEG will not take place. The budget was too high, and there were too many problems with traffic and missing overnight accommodations. Furthermore there were staffing issues. Last year the CEO, the chief executive officer and members of the board already stepped down.
