New addition to the Rothenberger stable: Sönke Rothenberger, who was part of the gold-winning team at Rio, has taken over the ride of 9-year-old Bavarian gelding Santiano by San Amour/Lord Sinclair. Like Cosmo the new horse is co-owned by Ralph Westhoff and his parter Marga Groeninger. On Januar, 19th, so the rider said, Santiano R moved to his new home in Bad Homburg. Antje Rahn, who bred the tall brown horse, has trained the horse herself and presented him at an event every year, in 2016 at S-level. The 22-year-old told eurodressage.com that Santiano R had an abnormal piaffe-passage tour, a great trot and was nice to collect for the pirouettes. He was not the prettiest horse in the stable but as soon as he moved he impressed. Rothenberger thinks the new horse to be a discharge for Cosmo. His plan for Santiano this year: the Louisdor prize.
