German Championships: Personal Best Means Second Gold Medal for Werth

Isabell Werth has always been one of the world’s best dressage riders. But currently she cannot be stopped. After winning the Grand Prix at the German Championships in Balve she won the gold medal in the Special and today in the Freestyle. With Emilio she reached a personal best of 89,12 percent. The rider was happy: “Emilio has surprised me. Over the last days he was in top form but today he just felt wonderful. Even the first passage after the stop felt great. I am simply happy.”
Sönke Rothenberger was able to improve his performance with Cosmo and come closer to Werth. He and Cosmo won silver with 87,600 percent. “Yesterday I rode more cautious,” so the rider from hesse said, “but today I was able to see the front leg in the corners. And that is what you have to do if you want to get on Isabell Werth’s nerves at the German Championship.”
Third place went to Dorothee Schneider and her young horse Sammy Davis Jr. who was “only” substitute for her Olympic horse Showtime. The rider was more than satisfied: “Sammy has developed a great deal since the Louisdor Final in Frankfurt and has dealt well with three competitions in a weekend. He has exceeded my expectations and I am very proud of him.” The pair confirmed their nomination for Aachen with 81,650 percent. Fourth place went to Helen Langehanenberg and Damsey, Hubertus Schmidt with Imperio and Fabienne Lütkeheier with Fabregaz followed.
