16-year-old KWPN mare MCB Ulke, owned by Pia-Luise Aufrecht and Gert-Jan Bruggink, will no longer be part of the sport, instead she will start her breeding career. The plan originally had been to compete her one last time in s’-Hertogenbosch, but when the Lux daughter suffered a slight injury in Dortmund Bruggink decided not to take her to the vet check and instead take it as a sign to retire her from the sport prematurely. “Gert-Jan and I are in two minds about this,” so Pia-Luise Aufrecht states. “On the one hand she was a great athlete, but on the other we are looking forward to her offspring.”
Ulke, who is said to be headstrong, but also showed great potential, won big competitions under Aufrecht as well as Bruggink. With Pia-Luise Aufrecht she won Hachenburg and Dortmund, with Gert-Jan Bruggink Villach, Salzburg, Donaueschingen and Samorin.
