4-year-old stallion U-Genius by Uthopia has been saved for Carl Hester, two of his long-standing sponsors acquired shares in the horse. According to Horse & Hound those two sponsors are Roly Luard, also co-owner of Valegro, and Anne Seifert-Cohn. U-Genius has been bred by Claire Hester, who is married to Carl’s step-father. U-Genius is by Weidyfleur II, Valegro’s only full sister. Claire Hesters told Horse & Hound that the question of the horse being sold had never been raised although the horse had raised much interest due to its pedigree. She added that the newly formed syndicate saves the horse for Great Britain. Carl is excited by this prospect and already mentioned that this horse could be the last he will take from grass roots to the Grand Prix.
