Retirement for Michael Eilberg’s Woodlander Dornroschen

“It’s a sad day for us,” so Michael Eilberg stated on his home page. He referred “Rosie’s” retirement from the sport. The 15-year-old British bred Hanoverian mare Woodlander Dornroschen was one of the rider’s Grand Prix horses, who was able to win several competitions this year in Valencia. The Dimaggio daughter won the British Championships when she was six years old, she won ahead of Valegro and had her first international competition in Vidauban in 2012. The pair competed in their first Grand Prix in 2015. However, Dornroschen was also a successful brood mare. She is mother of double World Champion Woodlander Farouche by Fürst Heinrich and of five-year-old licensed stallion Franz Ferdinand by Fürst Heinrich. For many years the mare suffered from laminitis, but then she recovered and was able to catch up to Grand Prix level.
