It could become close: Jose Daniel Martin Dockx’s Grandioso III had to undergo surgery, so dressage-news.com announced. The 17-year-old P.R.E, who already attended Olympic Games, World Equestrian Games and the European Championships has to take a three months break, which could become a problem concerning the preparation for the Olympic Games in Rio. The horse’s owner, Kim Boyer, told dressage-news.com that the horse would be retired immediately if they noticed that Grandioso was not in good shape at that point in time.
Grandioso was supposed to compete in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, in February, but had a swollen ankle, after they had to break strongly. The swelling subsided, but after some days, the pain came back. The veterinarian declared it was a tendon problem.
