It was no big surprise that the German équipe was able to win the Nations Cup in their home country at the Kasselmann yard in Hagen. Germany won with 235,28 percent ahead of Danmark (219,62 percent) and Spain (215,78 percent). Kristina Bröring-Sprehe and Desperados dominated the Grand Prix itself and therefore provided the top result for the team. They were the only pair to exceed the 80-percent-mark: they achieved 81,16 percent. However, circumstances were not always easy, so the rider told: “The wind definitely had its effects, during warm up, Desperados was more excited than usual, but in the competition everything went fine.”
Her team colleague Isabell Werth finished the Grand Prix with Don Johnson FRH and 77,440 percent in second place. Third place also went to Germany: Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Unee BB (76,680 percent). Werth spoke of “controlled risk,” while World Cup third von Bredow-Werndl was happy about her best Grand Prix result ever. Hubertus Schmidt, fourth rider in the team, was not at all pleased with his performance. He and Trakehner stallion Imperio had a strong start with over 80 percent, but then were surprised by a sudden heavy rain. In the end they finished with 72,5 percent.
Matthias Alexander Rath (GER) and Danönchen OLD won the Prix St. Georg in a strong performance (76,079 percent) ahead of British Laura Tomlinson with her new addition Duval’s Capri Sonne Jr (74,684 percent). Anabel Balkenhol and Trakehner stallion Heuberger TSF finished in third place (73,789 percent).
