Dermot Lennon’s Former World Champion Liscalgot Has Died

In 2002 Irish show-jumper Dermott Lennon and Liscalgot became World Champion at the WEG in Jerez de la Frontera. Now “Shirley”, so the Irish mare was called at home, has died at age 25.  When the mare was four years old she came to Lennon, who states on his Facebook page that his World Champion passed away peacefully. Apart from the World Championship the pair won team gold at the 2001 EC in Arnheim as well as many Grand Prix and Nations Cups. “Her intelligence always stroke me as quite exceptional,” so Lennon wrote. “To us she was the horse of a lifetime. We feel incredibly fortunate to have had her for over 20 years. Thank you, Shirley, for everything.”
