Only three months ago Columbian Carlos Enrique Lopez Lizarazo has taken over the ride of KWPN gelding Admara, who became known last December when he won the World Cup show jumping competition with Italian Emanuele Gaudiano. After the victory many wanted to buy the horse, Carlos Enrique Lopez Lizarazo said, even though the Padinus son first was not for sale. When something changed in the private life of the owners and the horse was for sale “I was the first in the line”, the Columbian said happily. “Today it’s rather complicated to get a good horse.”
As one can see now the sale has paid off. Even though Lopez only has been riding the horse for three months he was able to take the full risk in the jump off of the DKB Riders Tour qualification in Wiesbaden, in which 19 riders competed. He and Admara won the competition just ahead of German Eva Bitter with Perigueux. Third place went to Dutch Sterrehof’s Calimero.
Lopez’ victory is even more exciting since the Columbian, once placed fifth on the world ranking list, doesn’t have fond memories of Wiesbaden: When he arrived in the Schlosspark he didn’t make it to the second day. “I fell during the warm-up,” the winner explained. “That souvenir wasn’t nice. However, it seems to get better here.” His goal for tomorrow is clear: “We all want to win, that’s why we’re here. But I don’t know the horse well yet, so I don’t know what will happen tomorrow.”
