VDL Emilion by Wellinton/Farnese has passed away at age 31. Once the KWPN stallion and German show-jumper Ulrich Kirchoff celebrated international successes. The VDL stud farm announced his death and thanked the horse not only for a fantastic sports and breeding career but also for his great personality and his stellar character. He’d been a winner type. The stallion and Kirchhoff won the World Cup in Mil Street, were placed second in the Grand Prix of Donaueschingen and fourth in the Grand Prix of Valkenswaard. The pair competed at multiple Nations Cup events for Germany.
Emilion’s offspring is also something to be proud of: the most successful daughter is Seldana, with whom Abdullah Al Sharbatly won silver at the WEG in Kentucky and who won silver at the 2009 EC for Italy. A son, VDL Groep Tomboy won several Grand Prix and World Cup qualifications under Eric van der Vleuten.
