Career End for Krinke Susmelj’s Lazander

Originally, Swiss dressage rider Marcela Krinke Susmelj had planned to bring her Danish gelding Lazander back to the sport. The horse had to take an injury break last year due to a broken splint bone. Now the 15-year-old horse has been retired early, so the pferdewoche.ch announced. Veterinarian Thomas Wagner noticed that the legs had degenerative changes and that the ligaments were also impaired. Therefore Lazander was not able to perform lessons without pain. Now the horse who was placed 14th at the 2014 World Cup Finals in Lyon will enjoy his retirement with his former buddy Corinth. Marcela Krinke Susmelj and Lazander were able to celebrate some good Grand Prix placements, e.g. second place in the Freestlye in Frankfurt or victory in the Grand Prix in Wroclaw, Poland.
