Sönke Rothenberger & Cosmo

Sönke Rothenberger: “These mistakes must not happen in the individual competition”

Sönke Rothenberger’s KWPN gelding Cosmo by van Gogh-Frühling currently might be the horse with the most potential in the sport. But time and again there are big mistakes preventing more. The third rider of the team received 78,343 percent even though 80 percent could easily have been achieved. In the corner before the halt Cosmo got frightened and the reign back did not work as intended. In the zigzag halfpasses Cosmo slightly ran away which resulted in a mistake in the one-time flying changes. And the transition to the last strong trot was not good. However: their performance was extremely good and had some absolute highlights. The two-time flying changes were awarded a 9,1 on average and the piaffe-passage-tour also was awarded the best marks. With this result Rothenberger has secured gold for Germany – nothing can change that now. Rothenberger knew that: “It will suffice for the team.” But he added: These mistakes must not happen in the individual competition, but there are still two days left.”
Isabell Werth is the last rider to compete for Germany at 8:30 pm this evening. Currently the three German riders are ranked first to third.
