According to eurodressage.com the Russian couple Anatoly Merkulov and his wife Inessa Merkulova, an international dressage rider, have bought the Ostehof in Bermervoerde. As yet the yard belonged to the Ehlen family, a family of riders and breeders (Klaus Hermann Ehlen is the breeder of Dorothee Schneider’s Santiago, with whom she won the Burg-Pokal last year and his daughter Ann-Kathrin Ehlen was part of the gold-winning team of the European Championship for young riders in 1991 and 1992). By buying the yard the couple now wants to be based at a more central location. However, they will also keep their yard in Moskow in order to further promote dressage in Russia and Eastern Europe. Anatoly Merkulov is the general secretary of the Russian equestrian federation. Not all of their horses will travel to Germany, but rather the horses who are still young and not yet broken in, due to the climate. For older horses the couple only wants to use the yard in Germany as transitional stage while travelling.
