Peder Fredericson, who won individual silver at the 2016 Olympic Games has now been honoured as Sweden’s best male athlete of 2016. The 44-year-old is even more popular than Swedish football player Zlatan Ibrahimovic or golf player Henrik Stenson. Fredericson was speechless: “It is unbelievable. This award shows how big riding is in our country. I share this prize with my horse All In. He is an extraordinary horse. I was not prepared for this, I am grateful to everyone who supported me. It means a lot to all equestrians. I hope that this will inspire young riders.” The prize is especially rewarding since the Swedish population is involved in the selection process.
