Last August, just before the World Equestrian Games, Rien van der Schaft had resigned as Dutch Bondscoach dressage. The team went to the USA without a coach. Now a new Bondscoach has been announced: In the future the Dutch riders will be trained by Alex van Silfhout. Over the last years he has already been coach for the young riders, juniors and u25 riders. Monique Peutz will now take over this job. Imke Schellekens-Bartels is the new pony and children coach.
In his job as youth coach, Alex van Silfhout did well – in 2018 he and the juniors won team gold at Fontainebleau. In the future the co-operation between the three trainers is supposed to be extended, all of them are supposed to support the respective others. Alex van Silfhout was a Grand Prix rider himself and he already trained many other riders, among them his son Diederik van Silfhout.
