14-year-old Holsteiner stallion Cassionato by Cassini/Quidam de Revel, with whom Michael Whitaker represented Great Britain at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and the 2015 EC in Aachen, will be ridden by Whitaker’s compatriot Jamie Gornall in the future. Gornall wants to focus the training on this year’s European Championships and next year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo. “He has some illustrious blood, incredible ability and a brilliant temperament,” so the rider said. In addition, the stallion, with whom Whitaker also won the Nations Cups of La Baule, Rotterdam and Rome, will also be available as a breeding stallion. Semen will be available frozen and fresh when the horse’s schedule permits it. Cassionato is owned by Gary and Beverly Widdowson, who also own Big Star, and by Gornall’s father-in-law Chris Blundell, who has bought 50% of the stallion’s share.
