Perhaps one or another has missed British Michael Whitaker in the timed show-jumping competition this morning. He and William Whitaker were the only British riders set to compete at the show-jumping EC. But Michael Whitaker also withdrew. His Viking had to go to the holding box during the first vet check but then passed. However, so the rider told Horse&Hound, during the warm-up in the morning Viking did not feel right while landing. At home Viking had lost a horseshoe, but nobody noticed any problems. Now Whitaker noticed that Viking seems to have sprained his ankle when he lost the shoe. Therefore Whitaker withdrew from the competition even though he was visibly disappointed.
