Isabell Werth’s Warum nicht FRH Has Died

In 2010, Warum nicht, shortly “Hannes”, and Isabell Werth belonged to the bronze-winning team of the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. Additionally, the pair successfully took part in four World Cup finals. Now the Hannoverian gelding by Weltmeyer has died at age 17 following a colic. Even surgery was not able to save him. Isabell Werth says on her home page: “Our retirement herd has gotten smaller. I can’t believe it although it has been some days now. I just had not enough distance to announce the sad event immediately, and I didn’t want to be adressed by everyone during the event. Now I had time to get used to the thought that our gentle and cheerful giant is no longer with us.”
Three years ago, Hannes had broken his hip while in the box and therefore did not come back to the sport. Subsequently he enjoyed his retirement in the meadow. Isabell Werth further says “I wish he could have had many more years, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Thank you, Hannes, for everything I was able to experience with you. I hope you’re now galopping in another meadow – maybe together with Gigolo and his friends. Farewell.”
