Isabell Werth & Weihegold OLD

No Doubts: Isabell Werth

The first outdoor event this season of Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD was eagerly awaited by the audience. At the German Championships in Balve the Don Schufro daughter had to pass due to an injury. They had not performed at an event since their victory at the World Cup Final in Omaha. And the pair showed everyone why they currently are number one in the world. Their result of 83,171 percent meant the victory in the Grand Prix of the CHIO Aachen. US-American Laura Graves, who challenged Werth beforehand, had to make do with second place (79,514 percent).  However, the strongest opponent had mistakes in the two-times flying changes. Isabell Werth was happy: “Weihe was very focused. I think she was happy to present herself again.” Their only mistake: the change between the pirouettes was late behind.
Third place in the Grand Prix went to Sönke Rothenberger with Cosmo and 78,757 percent. Therefore the German team currently leads the competition with 236,457 percent ahead of the US with 222,842 percent and Denmark with 218, 457 percent.
German national coach Monica Theodorescu said: “I am very content. Hubertus had bad luck with his horse being spooked in the beginning, but his round was good. Doro also had a good result. It is impressing how neat their performance was since it is the horse’s first Grand Prix season – they have developed massively. Sönke’s horse is in top form. We might have to work on his numbers but they had great highlights. Ok and Isabell’s mare was simply superior after her long break. It is easy for her and all the criteria of a Grand Prix are met by her.”
