It’s a bitter pill for French Simon Delestre: The show jumper will not be able to compete with Hermes Ryan. The 11-year-old French gelding injured himself while in his box and now was diagnosed with a micro fracture of the ankle. “It’s an unfortunate injury which ends all my dreams for the Olympic Games,” so Delestre said. “But his health is our priority. The whole team will take care that he’ll get back in good condition so that he’ll be fit for big events in the future.” The rider who won bronze last year in Aachen will stay with his team colleagues and support them during the Olympic Games.
