Belgian Jumping rider, Olivier Philippaerts (24), dislocated his shoulder while trying to hold onto his horse H&M Legend of Love after a fall during this morning’s training session at the Longines FEI European Championships at the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg (SWE).

He was treated by medical staff on site, and the shoulder was put back in place.

Belgian Chef d’Equipe, Peter Weinberg, said, “this has happened to Olivier before, but this time it was much more painful. He asked if he could go home to see a specialist, and of course we don’t want to keep him here when he is in pain. The plan is for him to see a specialist tomorrow in Belgium. It was an unfortunate accident, but accidents happen.”

Olivier will be replaced on the Belgian team by reserve rider Jerome Guery.
