Yesterday, British dressage rider Gareth Hughes suffered a big disappointment: his 10-year-old mare Briolinca sustained an injury at the CHIO Rotterdam. First the mare did not pass the vet check, and then was judged fit to compete at the re-inspection. But then Hughes noticed that the Trento B daughter was lame just before they were about to enter the Grand Prix. An old injury flared up again. The pair had good chances to be chosen to compete in Rio Now the mare has to take a few months break. However, so team vet Andre Buthe hinted, maybe the mare could be fit to compete at next year’s European Championships in Gothenburg.
