Dorothee Schneider & First Romance

Dorothee Schneider’s First romance Wins Nürnberger Final

For the second time in the history of the Nürnberger Burg Pokal after Monica Theodorescu’s Whisper in 2005 a Wurttemberg bred horse wins the final.  After second place in the first round Dorothee Schneider was able to show all qualities of 8-year-old First Romance by Fürst Romancier and therefore received 76,537 percent despite some mistakes. Presenter Christoph Hess said he was an exceptional horse and it seems he was correct. No other horse in the field was so complete, so athletic and had as much presence as the gelding bred by Carolin Weber. It did not matter that in the gallop tour after the half-pirouettes in walk was tense and the flying change did not work.
Second place with 75,268 percent went to Isabell Werth’s Hanoverian gelding Descolari. The 8-year-old Desperados son showed a great walk and beautiful half-passes, but there were some insecurities in the first pirouette. Two judges saw Werth in lower places – in rank four and six – and the audience would have liked Ingrid Klimke and Bluetooth OLD to get second and not third place. The Oldenburger gelding by Bordeaux/Riccione and Ingrid Klimke finished third. Their only problem: the collected walk.
