“It is tougher than I thought,” Diederik van Silfhout said. The Dutch dressage rider will no longer ride his Olympic horse Arlando. The ride of the impressive KWPN stallion will be taken over by Danish rider Anna Zibrandtsen. The deal was made by Helgstrand Dressage. After the Olympic Games the owners allowed Diederik van Silfhout to decide if Arlando was to be sold or not. He told the Hoefslag that he had thought for a long time. But he knew that he had reached everything with the horse that he could reach and that at age twelve the horse had a good age to help another rider develop. “So I took the decision to sell him, even though it was not easy,” he said. At the same time the Dutch rider is happy that 23-year-old Anna Zibrandtsen takes over his ride, who was already part of the team at the EC of the young riders.
Arlando and Diederik van Silfhout won team bronze at the 2014 WEG, team gold at the 2015 EC in Aachen. Last year they were placed 11th in the individual rating at the Olympic Games. They were the best pair of the Dutch team.
