Jan Wernke has achieved victory in the prestigious Grand Prix of the Bundesrepublik Deutschland at the Signal Iduna Cup in Dortmund. He was already close to winning the Cup in 2012, but then he had to let Ludger Beerbaum take the lead. This year, Beerbaum is in Al Shaqab, Doha and so the 26-year-old rider and his Holsteiner Mare had their way. However, in the end it was touch and go. Niklas Krieg, only 22 years old, from Baden- Wurttemberg, who recently won the World Cup show jumping competition in Leipzig, and his quick horse Carella were placed second, they were only seven hundredth behind the winning pair. 26-year-old Denis Nielsen and 10-year-old stallion DSP Cashmoaker were placed third and made the youngster triumph perfect.
After the competition the winner was enthusiastic:”Queen Mary has such a great character, she always fights for me and she is very pleasant to ride”.
