Irish show-jumper Bertram Allen has announced on his Facebook page that his 19-year-old KWPN stallion Romanov will be retired. He took over the ride of the Heartbreaker son in 2013. Together the pair won the World Cup in Bordeaux and the Global Champions Tour in Paris. In 2015 the pair won the Nations Cups of La Baule and Dublin. Before the stallion came to the then 17-year-old Irish rider he was successfully competed by Billy Twomey. Allen said that even if he would miss the horse the time was now right to retire him since he did not want to milk it out. He further stated that he had so many special memories with the horse and that he would always have a special place in his heart.
Romanov will enjoy his retirement in the meadows in Ireland where the grass is supposed to be especially lush and green.
